Brand reevaluation - updating your brand visuals

Your brand is your promise to your customer. It tells them what they can expect from your products and services, and it differentiates your offering from that of your competitors. Your brand is derived from who you are, who you want to be and who people perceive you to be. – Entrepreneur.com

In 2019 it is not enough to JUST have a good logo and believe that you have this branding thing under control.  All money, all clients, all business is not created equal.  If you have had issues in the past attracting the types of clients you want to work with then you may need to revisit your brand story.

I recommend that every creative entrepreneur reevaluate yourself and your business each year.  This way you can create a plan and stay aligned. Before you change anything in your business you should first clarify your brand story and define your niche.  Answer these questions before you decide that something needs to be updated:

  • Clarify your story

    • What is your product, service or message?

    • What is your WHY?  Each business should operate with purpose, and passion. do you know yours?

    • What do you want your consumer to think about you?

    • What do your customers think about you? Create a quick survey and ask you 2018 clients about their experience. You don’t know what to change to make it better if you don’t ask.

  • Define your niche

    • Who do you serve?  Be specific!

    • Why do they need my help? - again if you do not know, ask your clients, “why did you hire me?”

Once you have reevaluated your business, clarified your story and defined your niche; you can focus on updating your brand visuals.

What is a Brand Visual?

Your visual identity is made of several elements including; photos, colors, fonts, and design.  Brand Visuals are used to illustrate a clear and consistent message that evoke feelings and emotion and communicates your brand values (Tells your story).

The right brand visuals will help you establish consistency and become recognizable over time.

Your brand visuals have to go beyond your logo design.   Beyoncé wouldn't get her hair and make-up done for the Grammy's, and then walk the red carpet in her pajamas.  You have to put the whole look together so the world knows that you came to slay!

With the right brand visuals your clients will be screaming YESSSSSSS (with two finger snaps), every time you show up in their timeline or inbox!
